Schedule a Training

To get more information about or to schedule MVP Strategies sexual harassment and gender violence prevention leadership trainings, please contact us at [email protected]. There are two general types of trainings available: on-site and open call. All trainings have similar content. These are all in-person events; there are no virtual trainings scheduled at this time.

On-site trainings are scheduled upon request, hosted by the sponsoring party and held for 15-35 participants. Open call trainings are held once or twice a year in the Los Angeles area and in western Massachusetts. For descriptions of the trainings, see below:

MVP Strategies staff conduct dynamic trainings of trainers (both two and three-day versions) to introduce and immerse leaders in education, community organizations, business, labor, the military, law enforcement, public health, and other sectors to the philosophy and methods of the groundbreaking Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) model, originally developed by Dr. Jackson Katz and colleagues.

The multimedia trainings feature a robust mix of facilitated dialogues, bystander scenarios, experiential exercises, and leadership training. Participants learn about the core MVP idea of gender violence prevention as a key leadership imperative. The training includes an emphasis on intersectional factors of gender, sex, race, and ethnicity, and steers away from positing “one size fits all” solutions.

Participants are taught how to exercise strong, proactive leadership from positions of institutional and supervisory authority and cultural influence. They are also taught how to help professionals and students — in a range of school and workplace peer cultures — interrupt and challenge abusive behaviors before, during or after the fact, as well as how to support victims and survivors. The trainings are conducted by a mixed-gender, racially integrated team of highly experienced MVP Strategies trainers [often including Jackson Katz].

MVP Strategies open-call trainings are scheduled on an occasional basis – currently there is no set schedule. If you would like to be on the list to receive emails when we have information to share about a new open-call training, or future scheduled ones, please contact us at [email protected].
